About the Director

Joel “PT” Jones is the Director and Chief Instructor of Strong Arms Gun Club and Strong Arms Training Academy, where he provides comprehensive firearms and tactical training for civilians, law enforcement, security professionals, and military personnel.

A Range Master Certified Master Firearms Instructor and proud U.S. Military Veteran with over 25 years of experience, Joel is known for his disciplined, practical, and mission-driven approach to firearms education. At the center of his teaching philosophy is his guiding principle: “Be Brilliant in the Basic Fundamentals.” This mission drives every course he leads — from foundational skills to advanced tactical applications — ensuring that every student gains confidence, competence, and control through mastery of the basics.

His credentials include recognition as a DCJS General Instructor, Armament Systems & Procedures (ASP) Tactical Weapon Instructor, USCCA Training Counselor, American Red Cross CPR Instructor, SABRE Law Enforcement Aerosol Instructor, Maryland Firearms Instructor, and Active Violence Immediate Response Training (AVIRT) Instructor.

Through Strong Arms Gun Club, Joel promotes a culture of education, empowerment, and responsibility. He is dedicated to elevating safety standards and strengthening readiness across all skill levels — preparing individuals and teams to perform effectively when it matters most.
